A well sorted Cooper S would be mid pack if all drivers were equal. They handle awesome but are down on power.

remember when you could pick one up for super cheap, now 25,000 will barely get you one :P I had a 1969 mini with the 1000 cc cooper engine(not the s 1275) and the twin carbs, pulled it all apart to put a b16a1 in it. should have left it alone

The Viper right behind it, and a couple of the cars after the Viper, have the ability to shoot by the Mini like it's sitting still even on the BS miniature straighaway it's pictured on. The other half of those cars are not neccesarily fast, although some could be, just roadrace bodykitted out.

A-series engines aren't powerhouses, yo.

I remember when a solid non-S went for $8-10K. They are godawful expensive now. Been considering getting one of the 90's units imported (look the same, plastic dash and EFI) and titling it as an old one - good way to get a super nice car for cheaper than the old ones go for.

Nothing wrong with a B16 swap unless you confuse your Mini with something rare. The old ones are kinda rare, so mebbe you're right.
