d series guys need some help.
ok I am in the process of collecting parts for my d16z6 turbo build right now and have come to a few cross roads what to do and why I have the z6 block right now. with a bad crank. should I get another z6 crank or a a6 is there a diffference enough to care about? and should I use the y8 oil pump or the z6? the y8 is cheaper from honda. will it work ok? one reason I am looking at y8 is 1, due to price and 2, I have a obd2 car that needs to be obd2 every year for inspection for about 10 mins :1 dam new york laws. I heard something about the z6 having better flow and higher psi sustianed but not sure if this is true?
What ever fits into your budget. And they won't do an internal search for 0bd2 parts. They do a visual (which is pretty easy to pass) and vin run for car info and a smog run. If you're car puts out a bit too much on pollutants...try running a cx mani with the cat on it with your stock. As long as you don't have a check engine light during and prior to the test, you should be fine. When I lived in cali and I had to smog my civic, they opened up the intake and sprayed water in it as they follow the line on the smog test. I don't remember what he told me but it was to nuetralize some chemical that was bad for the test because of what I had. You can re-mic the crank and balance or get another one. Again...depends on how much loot you have and how much power you're planning to try to make.
well up here in ny they don't even smog lol thank god for that. The only reason I need a crank angle sensor is so I don't throw a code. here they hook up to albany and let the computers comunicate and if you got a all systems ready and no codes it passes. heck here my mechanic told me to punch the cat haha I don't even think he checks to see if it is still in place.
