Default Matco Factory FWD Drag cars

Well i go to new england tech, and yesteday the matco/gm sponsored FWD team stopped by to give us a demonstration on their two 2006 chevy cobalt drag cars. The first one is obviosly a purpose built drag car that runs in the pro FWD outlaw class. It has 1650 hp and runs something like a 7.40 @ 193. I'm pretty sure it's set some sort of records too. The engineering was simply incredible. It's a 2.1L motor with a 3.50" bore and stroke, carillo rods, JE pistons, Ferrera valvetrain, and 12 injectors :P It runs on alcohol, has something like a 60mm compressor wheel on a t6 frame borg warner turbo, and obviously a 4" exhaust. Said the turbine is massive, 1.10 and q trim. It also used twin 60mm HKS wastegates to bleed boost! The transmission is from england (forgot the brand), but they're used in F1 cars. It uses a slipper clutch to launch and once it's going you use a button to air shift it.

The other car races in a lower class (forgot what it was), But it runs mid 9's at 155. It's also registered, has a full interior, is an automatic, and can be driven on the street with different tires and an exhaust. Didn't get too many specs but they said both motors are very similar so i'm sure it uses a lot of the same parts. I just think i'd be pretty gangster to drive on the street with some smaller slicks. ---- up some supercar owners

Sorry for the shitty pics, i had to use my phone. Also threw in some pics of the cars at drags since i didn't take pics of the whole cars

I thought the cobalt would do better than it has. It's a flopper.

yeah but you gotta realize, these guys just got sponsorship from gm and matco recently, within the past few years. Before that they were building this stuff with their own money. Or some ---- like that. In any case it's not something i see everyday so i thoguht it was pretty impressive.

He meant the car as a whole. I figured it would blow up and become the next great "tuner" car. I think the problem is that it is new and has little aftermarket so far.
