Default traction bar adjustment?

well i bought a JKMotorsports trac bar for my CRX, and installed it yesterday. im just worried that im not setting it up right...

when installed, i turned the arms so they tightened, which pulled the wheels slightly forward in the well. is this right? do i want tension pulling forward, or pushing back? it seems like it would need to push back because engine force will push the wheels forward, and the bar would stop them.

how should i properly set this up? be on flat ground, and adjust the bar so that the wheel is centered in the well? then just tighten up the nuts? or am i doing it right and just overreacting?

thanks in advance...

You want to take it to a tire shop to be aligned. That way you set them up so they are tight and caster is in spec.

As mentioned above you need to get it alinged, you dont want to preload them or anything. Once the caster is set you will be good to go. The objective of the traction bar is by making the rods solid units so there is no slop on launchs.

well i knew that it needed to be aligned, i just figured that i could get them close at home so there would have to be less adjusting while it was being done

The way I set up my personal car the first time before I brought it into get aligned was:

1: Take the factory Crossmember, and between the 2 foward most bolts place a string between them,
2: Next do the same thing to the 2 bolts on the factory radius rods,
3: Now measure between ou 2 strings/lie (somewhere around 18" or so) Ty to be as percise as possible.
4: Now goto your car, place a sting between the 2 bolt on the traction bar, then measure to the center of the LCA bracket and adjust till it is the smae as the pne you got off of the factory crossmember.

I don't give these instructions with the Bars because this is a Temporary thing only and I fear guys will think it is good enough.

FYI: I got this to the point on my car the first time around where my caster was within spec and required o adjustment on the alignment rack.

They need to be adjusted under load. Drop the car on jack stands and then adjust.

I measured where the wheel was located in the wheel well, meausered at a few differen points LCA-to-wheel well, Rotor-to-well, etc.. and when I put the JK unit on tried to aling back to where they were originally the car is still on stand but everything seems to back where it was originally, still getting an alignment but its a temp fix

When you take your car to get it aligned will they adjust your traction bars or do they just make your caster is correct you just set the track bar with no preload?
