BRAKES Barely Work - Fresh Swap, What Happenned?
The car is an 88 Crx si.
Since I brought the car out this year the brakes werent feeling as good as I felt they should have.
So I swapped in some bremobo slotted rotors and hawk pads, that didnt do a thing. I really had to smash the pedal to get it to stop.
Now yesterday I swapped my motor. New d16a6 and turbo. We drive the car down the driveway and NO BRAKES!!!
I had to pump the brakes seversal times to get it to stop from a 20mph roll.
The brake fluid is full, calipers and lines were never unhooked. The only thing I did was unhook the mastercylinder from the wall (2 bolts) and pushed it off to the side a bit to get the alternator out. But that was 2 weeks before the swap.
I really wanna bring this car camping this weekend so I need some help
Thanks guys

Did you put the check valve for the vacuum assist on the correct direction?
Might also have some air in the lines to begin with...maybe you should try bleeding them out and see what's in there.

Are you loosing any brake fluid? If you have drum brakes still, they may be VERY under adjusted and the wheel cylinders could be leaking too, making it have a low pedal, and even to the point of no rear brakes at all (shoes not touching the drum because they are too far and have to over extend) Many people overlook the rear brakes, especially drum brakes. A well maintained and adjusted drum brake system is just as effective as a disc (for the rears atleast). Just a thought to check the rears, since you said you never touched the brakes before and they never were as good as they should have been.

Your master cylinder might be f'ed. I had lots of brake problems on my 5th gen. First try flushing everything and look for any possible leaks. Leave the car off and pump the pedal, If it gets stiff after a few pumps, your booster should be fine. If all of that checks out, I think it's your master cylinder.
Edit: by flush I mean flush out the old fluid with all new fluid and bleed properly. To me, bleeding is a bitch, no matter how many times you've done it... But it's gotta be done. Get a one man bleeding kit from Advance Auto (or w/e it's called in your area), unless you have a semi patient buddy to help u out. If it was me, I'd even get speed bleeders. I wish I had those all the times i had to bleed my system.
WHats this one man bleeding kit?
I orderred a new master cylidner today just cause it takes 3 days to get here
I'll try and bleed the brakes before that though, but Ive never done it before

I had this issue when I did the brakes in my hatch...So I went to bleed them and when I did I noticed alot of air in the fluid to the point it was almost foaming. Turned out I had a small tear in one of the rubber brake lines, happened on the front brakes when I was only working on the rear....check your lines for breaks.
