swaped out the presicion sc61 on my roomates semi-built z6 with a brand new turbonetics 60/48 we pre oiled it ran it on a basemap for an hour up to the dyno in ohmaha did two pulls at 9 psi and the tuner said it was tuned and ready to up the boost so i turn it up to 16 (wanted to push 18 but wanted to see what 16 sounded like first) turbo spools hit 16 psi for 1 second ..drops straight down to 10 then 5 then nothing(other than alot of ------- SMOKE) ... after that i thought it just blew a ring land or something but we did a compression check and it was good .. try driving to transonic in omaha we can hear the center section of the turbo just slaping and the bearing just fucked along with the housings.. but we had to get it to the shop so we drove for 5 min and finally got there .. took the filter off and the turbo was just ------- shot .. it was definatley not even balanced first sign of some what high boost it shitted .. that super 60 (60/4 should not do that at 16 psi on a z6 with internals reving to 7700 ... WTF ? i just thought it was bullshit that a brand new turbo fucked up like that .. oil was getting to and draining from the turbo , the oil drain is also high up on the pan so im geussing it was balanced and the seals werent installed correctly

 

Was he running an oil restrictor on the feed line?

 

yup stealthmode just must have been un balanced or a super 60 isnt meant for 16 psi but i doubt that

 

So return it.

 

if it's a real turbonetics I believe they have a 1 year no hassle replacement, including race products.

 

You sure its not an ssauto? they have the turbonetics logo cast into the exhaust housing

i bet your a jackass who doesnt read.. the turbo was shot now runnig a 50 trim garret and yes the gave us a refund and offered to replace the turbo but obviously was denied and payment was returned .. good customer service and i thought good turbos i dunno what the deal was but i doubt ill trust them for a long time
