First off, yes, i agree street racing is dumb, but i havent been able to get to the track yet and just wanted to test out my new setup. So I was at the local meetup, talkin to a few friends. Got bored and wanted to see if an Evo would run me for fun. He wanted to race for money, and i was broke so i said no. Cobra offered to run for fun, so we did. He asked if i wanted spots and i said no, i just wanted to see how the car keeps up, and everyone looked at me like i was stupid. At this point I had forgotten that Cobra's came supercharged. I just thought "Cobra, thats the fast one" (hammer) . So we run heads up, he said he didnt get on it too hard off the line because of wheel hop, but i also didnt rip on it off the line because I just opened my cut-out for the first time and wasnt used to the new low end power. Anywho, i beat him by a few cars, everyone got excited, and i didnt really think anything of it until they reminded me it was SC'd, then i felt pretty good. Anyone know what they run stock/ few bolt ons? Edit, says they run 12.9's stock, so the guy prob couldnt drive too well, but that 12.9 is also with a Great driver. Enjoy, or flame away. Nice work.Was the Cobra stock or close to it?I would think with a good launch your setup might be a good match for one.

It was funny because we didnt think about the cobra being supercharged and NO ONE expected the "Jap Crap" to win (including us !!!)


TO 90dx : the Cobra was not completely stock but it wasnt heavily moded either. The owner said it had exhaust upgrades and intake upgrades. He told Brandon (89SiPimpin) that he should definately have no problems taking stock Cobras.

 

Thanks. He said it had some kinda intake SLP or somethin, exhaust, and headers. I gotta get to the dyno or track and see how the car does. I planning on building a block, so i tihnk i'm gonna max out this stock motor and see what it can handle before it blows.

 

damn i was struggling to hear the s/c on that thing. exhaust sounded stock

was he going to pass you on the top end?

pretty sweet, my car was way slower than that, you got a better turbo and more boost.

Not bad at all, especially not for an LS.

 

My car probably drowned out alot of it, open downpipe and external wg scream at high rpms. If we would have had more room to run, I would have just pulled on him harder lol. The car pulls pretty hard up top. I def dont think his car was driven to its full potential, I know he tried, but for car that should be 12's stock, i dont think it was there.

I only wrote that because I posted on HT first, and they like to here stuff like that over there so they feel like men.

 

are you sure it was an 03? the ones before 03 are not supercharged and look the same.

 

Yea it was an 03, you can hear it whine if you listen carefully over the sound of my god-awfully loud exhaust, or lack thereof
