Default got a 90 dx need help with emmisions smog.

i just got a 90 hatch dx for 1200 talked him down from 2000. i didnt get a great deal but it was ok. it has 260k miles and he said he got a new motor but it still looks like ----. i went for emissions and i passed everything but the CO gas. i got 12.04 and you have to have 12.00 so i bought a new air filter and got some fuel cleaner before i go next time. should i pass if i put 91 octane and those 2 things in. i dont want to spend any money on other ---- i dont need like a catylitic converter because i will take it out when i get my turbo in there.

if you are that close to passing, those minor things should pass. Just bring it there warmed up.

go on the freeway, highway or whatever... go to the place... keep the car on, then fill out all the paper work, with the car on, then when its your turn to get on the sniffer, your catalyst will be working good.... and you will probably most likely pass.... also make sure your timing is on the mark, that might make a difference too...

DO NOT dump fuel cleaner in there and go straight to the test, it wont do anything, run a tank through then do the test.

IMO, just get the CAT good and hot and run the test. 91 oct wont do crap either.

i changed the spark plugs, air filter and pcv valve.. i failed 2nd time with higher CO reading.

so today i changed the oil and valve cover gasket. the guy at work said if i am leaking oil in my spark plugs i will have higher CO's and he use to work at emmisions and said changing the oil will help alot. which it was dirty and my valve cover was leaking slightly. i also filled up with 87 octane and ran the fuel cleaner ---- threw. if i fail again im going to get a new cat and o2 sensor.
