So I made my wishlist on new egg and then I remembered about Tiger Direct. Now I dont know how to decide which motherboard / CPU to buy. Help me good sirs.

I'm not a gamer or any ---- like that. I don't need any super computing power, I just want something that will treat me nice and wont be obsolete by the time its shipped to me.

the 180 one supports crossfire, and the 200 supports sli. These things are for running 2 video cards. get the first one

Be careful with tigerdirect. They are local here and we've got 2 stores. Their service absolutely sucks. Worst service/return policy I've seen. And if you saw how they have their stuff laid about, you wouldn't trust their product... Just a warning.

IMO Newegg is 100x better in price and service.

Core2 Duo releases in 3 days. It pretty much slays AMD in every benchmark and uses less power. Overclocks like a champ too.

The plus side is that AMD has cut prices by almost 50% in some cases for the 64 and 64x2 line.
For a very fast, OC friendly budget system you can score a 64x2 4800 for $390ish or a 64x2 4600 for $260ish.
Now is a good time for AMD users to upgrade just the CPU for pretty cheap.

If I were to build a brand new system, Id rock a Core2Duo E6600. You get the 4m L2 and lots of headroom for a healthy overclock. They are estimated to be priced at around $316.

 

yeah I meant get the 160 mobo. and AMD > Intel Except I don't know about the ones just coming out, but they will prob be $$$

 

for memory i would get two sticks of dual channel ddr corsair is the best, but kingston is pretty good,

and for a HD dont cheap out, buy a Western Digital with 3 year warranty, ive seen ---- Hd's fail one after another, the worst thing that can happenm is having 160gb worth of music movies, etc and ur hd dies, and you have to start from scratch.

cpu and motherbord is basically how much you can spend is what you get. and i would go for AMD. performance is pretty close to Intel but for half the price.
