external wastegate on a turbo ?

sorry if i sound like a dumbass but is there anyway i can put an external wastegate on a IHI TURBO,
which has an internal wastegate already ?

most ihi turbos have the flapper as part of the turbine housing. usually recessed.
you would have to weld the flapper shut.
which ihi are you referring to?

when welding the wastegate shut, do you guys weld the inner flap to the turbo housing or do you just weld the little swivel arm to the housing.

Yeah,just weld it or wire th eflapper shut from out side(at the hinge).If you cut it off the little guy will spool even faster.

On mine, I pulled out the whole flapper aparatus, tapped the rod hole and stuck a bolt in it, then welded a steel expansion plug into the wastegate hole.
