Default t3/t4 57 trim on stock d series safe??

alright well besides my accord.... i also now have a 93 civic ex d16z6 with a td05, hx manifold, uberdata, 390s, walbro 255, on it.. well i have one of those t3/t4 57 trim ebay turbos... I wanna put it on it keeping the same setup other then the turbo being bigger... I would tune it for the bigger turbo but what i wanna know is how much boost is actually safe to run threw a stock d16z6 with that big of a turbo on it?? I dont see anyone running that big of a turbo on a stock d series really thats why im asking? The engine was really well taken care of but it does have alot of miles on it for boost... about 170k but the engine runs like its brand new still, it was babied its whole life... And im talking daily driver status with 91 octane fuel for this turbo setup...

those numbers are way off lol, at 10-14 psi he is gonna be considerbly over 220. Also, you can boost over 220 on the stock D, its just a matter of how you tune it, keeping timing conservative and making power with boost keeps the motor alive. There are several individuals making nearly 300hp on the stock D, with the right tune, and little luck, its good to go, the two ive talked to with numbers like that have had there set ups running strong for nearly a year.
Now if you want to run that size turbo, your gonna need better injectors then those 390s, atleast pic up some 450s

Yeah for the hybrid turbo 10-14 is too much, that is if you even hit full boost at a reasonable RPM. However on the mitsu turbo those numbers would probably put you around 200-220. And yeah you can tune it to live above 220, but after that it's probably a matter of time of how long it'll live. Plus 170K miles. I don't care if grandma julia drove the ------- thing every sunday for 60 years, that's a lot of miles to be asking it to survive at over 220hp. Would i boost it? Of course. Would i try to go over 200hp on it? ---- no.

in my opinion i'd just rock a smaller T3, why do you want to run that turbo besides the fact that you have it?

oh and josh is gay for bashin the D series :P

alright awesome! Thanks for the info guys!! I wanted to put that turbo on it but i CANT blow it up now... its my only car to drive since the accord is torn apart again.... The only reason i wanted to put it on in the first place is because the 14b turbo setup on it right now is ghetto as ---- i mean the pipe that comes off the turbo is like less then a inch wide and then it goes into 2 1/2 inch i cant see that being very efficient and the turbo manifold and turbo are pretty much soo ------ rigged together that if i ever took them apart i dont think it would go back together lmao... BUT!! ---- it its ran perfect like this for 6 months or so driven every day so i think i will just try to un ghetto the setup on it now and tune it for 10 psi or so and my goal is 200whp until i decided to swap it and do something different with it..

JDMFantasy2K im pretty sure it would spool the turbo just fine..everyone told me the turbo was too big and wouldnt spool but i had it on my single cam 12 valve 86 accord with a stock head and log manifold and it hit 10+psi in first gear easily and my redline is only 6500 lol.. so im thinking a 16 valve single cam vtec head would be able to spool it just fine..

my friend uses a 57 trim on his built d16. he reaches full boost (26 psi) by 5200 RPM. That means your easily seeing 12 or so psi by 4200-4400. The power advantage of the larger turbo is worth the lag, IF thats whats your after, if all you want is a strong power curve, then by all means get a small turbo, but dont expect big numbers

yeah but if he's just looking for 200 hp then a 48/60 or 60/63 would do just fine. Plus he'd have boost much much sooner and it'd be more streetable. Try plotting the t3/t4 on a compressor map, and then plot the t3 and you'll see that the the t3 is just better matched for a d series (around 10 psi anyway).
