DISCOVERY LAUNCHES NEW AUTOMOTIVE BRAND

Discovery Communications is launching a new multi-platform brand in the United States called TURBO. The new brand will cover everything motorized—from choppers and hot rods to boats and planes. According to Discovery Communications, a new 24-hour broadband channel will launch under the TURBO moniker on July 4, followed by a video-on-demand (VOD) offering in the fourth quarter 2006. In December of 2006, a TURBO block of programming will make its debut on TLC.

"With the success that we’ve had with auto-engineering programming, and our ongoing efforts to create products that appeal to consumers on multiple platforms, Turbo is a natural extension,” said Don Baer, senior executive vice president, Strategy & Development, Discovery Communications. “TURBO moves us aggressively towards providing content to enthusiasts whenever they want an adrenaline boost—online, on air or on demand.”

Agreed, I wouldn't mind a 24/7 station that played ---- like Horsepower TV and that kind of ---- all the time. It's fun to watch things built the right way, so that we know what we're supposed to do on our own projects...even though we don't really care.

 

Speed Channel used to be good back in the day. Almost never saw anything about nascar on there. But I guess rednecks and SCCA just don't make for good business so they sold out

 

tv sucks to much to watch. ive been turned off tv ever since the midgets on monster garage couldn't put a turbo kit on a hayabusa engiine.

 

sometimes speed has a few good things on..i was watching the rolex gt series today..some badass M3's and a few porsche's...i cant stand nascar i get dizzy just watching it ..i guess rednecks cant turn right, and have you seen them on road courses

 

there was only one left turn in that GT race.. that GTO fucked everything in the ***.
