Default turbo spittin oil...

ok i just installed my turbo last night, its a 14b on a 91 teg b18a. i test drove my car around for 5 minutes, when i got home and popped the hood i saw some oil around the outlet pipe on the compressor. i let the car sit for a couple minutes and ponder. i got back in the car again and reved the motor to see if any oil was comin out from the outlet, as i reved the car i saw oil being spat out from the outlet pipe of the compressor and i just got the turbo rebuilt. i dont know wats wrong with it? could it be my oil return line, it has a half inch hose connected to a hosebarb with an elbow that reduces down to a 1/8 npt fitting to the oil pan.
any input is appreciated.....thanx

are you saying that you have a 1/8 npt fitting on your return line? thats pretty small, might not be able to drain the line fast enough into the pan. So oil may be backing up in the housing...

look at the return hole on the center housing, its huge. 1/4 is better than 1/8 but 1/2 seems ideal.

I had the same problem in my setup....
(BTW, I blew the seals out of my IHI by running a 3/16 Oil Return Line)...

You HAVE TO use a 1/2 hose for the Oil Return...
Don't use any fittings smaller than 1/2!
You don't even need any fittings on the Oil Return Line.
Just clamp down a 1/2 hose on the Turbo Oil Return Flange, and on the Oil Pan Flange.. and make sure that the flange on the Oil Pan is not any smaller than 1/2.

Good Luck.

yeah to small return.

it could also be high oil pressure. might have to put a needle valve in.

i finally had the chance to change the return line yesterday to 1/2 inch, all i had to do was change the fitting that was 1/8 to 1/2 inch. and i also lowered the oil pressure thats goin to the turbo to sometin like 20 psi at idle and 40 when im cruisin. but the problem still exist, oil is still cumin out from the compressor but not as much as it was before where it was sprayin oil. i probably blew the oil seal on the turbo, ima take the turbo out this weekend and take it apart n check all the seals.....thanks for the help guys....
