y7 knock sensor?

Default y7 knock sensor?

this is my 1st post since actually becoming a member, so i hope my ? doesn't earn me the rope award. i been searching but can't find the answer (maybe something to do with reading at 2 or 3am). Putting together a mini with a d16y5 head on y7 block obviously with intent to boost. From what i understand y5 & y8 have knock sensor but not y7. Has anyone with a y7 block installed a knock sensor? Need to just tap a coolant passage? Didn't get to strip down y5 block so got nothing to compare to.

Well if you turbo it and are going to be converting to OBDI you can disable the knock sensor and not have to run one. Other than that I think the hole is already there.

im not sure if the holes there but just convert like he said and get rid of that damn knock sensor

i could have sworn my y7 had a knock sensor on it but wtf do i know, there was some wierd eltrical connector by the crank pully

Thats the crank position sensor. Y7 has no knock.

no knock on y7...y8 do.

knock sensor is a love hate relationship, just disable it and tune.

you can put it in one of the bolt holes for the alt. take the bolt out re tap it then screw it in.


isnt the y5 vtec-e a 12 VALVE, can you even put that on a 16 valve bottom end.

y5 is a 16 valve head, but the ecu controls at. it works on 12 valves till 3k then on all 16 after that.
