Here's the situation: my friends dad is a serious baller. Previously was a CFO for a well known corporation, so he has mula. He has a 1987 caddy brougham (I know it as a fleetwood) that he does not drive and he wants to pimp it out and then sell it to a rapper or someone. He's willing to spend 25-30k, complete exterior work, rims, electronics, new engine, maybe a turbo set-up, etc. I told him it was a shitty idea becuase he wants to get back a lot more money then he puts in...so say sell this caddy with 25k of work in it for 80k. I don't think this is likely.
BUT, what car can this be done with? I know we can do that with somehting like a late 60's chevy, maybe a bandit t/a, but most of the older american cars make big money as restorations. What car can be had for not too much money, and can make a good return with a good deal of money thrown at it? IT can be anything, RHD JDM GTR Fast & Furious Skylines, EG's, foxbody's, whatever?

What car can be bought cheaply, have 25k or so thrown at it to pimp it, not restore it, and then be sold for GOOD money?
I don't even know if such a thing exists, this would be a sick project for me to work on with an UNLIMITED budget in my eyes.

champ white, some nice 16" rims with best tires you can get, full aero kit (not body kit.. but an actual aero kit) probably mugen, build up the motors a lil more, just make it really clean with top of the line products. ebay start bid at $20k and watch it go

 

Cars are not "investments". There are only certain cars and certain builders that can actually sell cars for a profit. Find yourself a numbers matching Superbird and put $10,000 into it and you're looking at some profit. Buying Jose's 88 Caddy and throwing some wires on it isn't going to make you much money.

Yea, it's what I figured. He wants to do it, and I'd love to work on a car with the best ---- possible. But I have never seen a car get more then equal value anywhere besides TV.

And I am serious. I don't want to lie to this guy and tell hime that his pos caddy is worth dumping 30 grand into, but I would love to do this. And I just about die every time he explains that he wants to sell it to a black guy from the south, then makes the upside down peace sign with his hands and aks what "those poeple" mean by "22" with their hands. I've convinced him it's a gangs sign.

Back on topic though, we watche 2f2f at his house the other day, and the gtr from the movie came up as a possiblity. An integra type-r is too much of a small ball car, nobody will pay more than 30-40k for a modded import unless chip foose ***** in the trunk.

 

He sounds like he's insane I mean if he really has all this money why the hell would he waste his time with petty ----? Real estate and stocks would be much better investments, maybe you should tell him that?
