Default Advice on purchasing a Welder

Hey guys,
My cage fab guy has a welder for sale for 500 bucks and I can pick it up on sunday when I get my car if I want it.

Lincoln SP130T
Stand/cart
Bottle
15ft lead

Its 500 dollars, 250 for me, 250 for my business partner so its not that much out of pocket.

I would like to decide by tonight as he has a local guy interested as well.

Thanks a lot guys!

that seems a little high priced to me but i'm not completely familiar with it.

I am in a similar boat, I am having to decide between two weld pak 100's... one of them is missing cables and is 150$ the other is complete with mask and extra roll of wire for 250$ but I have to drive 2hrs to pick it up.

I think you can find a comparable machine for cheaper but maybe not the complete setup with bottle and all.

well average pricing on ebay makes it look like a sp135 and sp100 are right in that price range new at 400-500. Then you just gotta take the cart and bottle and stuff into consideration.

Ryan, I got my SP135T from ebay brand new with a cart and a cover for around $500 shipped. Same place I got mine from. I think I paid a bit less. http://cgi.ebay.com/LINCOLN-SP135T-M...QQcmdZViewItem

Keep in mind the bottle adds about $100 to the cost.

Hey DAve, thanks for the input. I was looking on ebay and found a bunch of the 135's for that 500 range.

My local fab guy said he leases his bottle for 30 bucks a year so that would be an option as well.

I decided to buy a drill press instead so I will be doing that tonight, gotta keep as much stuff in house to keep cost down! People are cheap haha

I don't know where to start for a MIG, I know I want something better than this Fluxcore I got.

BTW what's the thinnest piece you guys have done with fluxcore?
