So i know that alot of car manufacturers over engineer their engines to ensure that they last a while. But what are some engines you guys know of that come stock NA and are just ASKING to be put to atleast 10psi ? Is there any stock engines that will handle 10psi every day or would that pressure require modifications ? Thanks in advance for the help.

Also, I know that factory turbo engines are usually pretty mild. How would a factory turbo setup handle a serious turbo application (ie 10-15psi) ?

 

90-94 nissan sentra se-r motor of a tank, will handle alot of power with no mods.

 

anything that comes turbo'd is usually pretty strong.

Integra Ls' seem to be reasonably strong. 15 psi worth i'm not too sure. But remember power kills motors, not boost.

i personally like the 2.2 motors from the toyota camry and celica. Friend of mine had one in his celica going strong at 13 #'s of boost and had like 220 whp from it daily

I ran 22 psi on a HRC super 20G turbo on the stock bottom end of my talon with no problems at all...

 

Good engine management and a tune on the dyno , mainly

 

my 97 hatch.. y7 10lbs with a T25. over a year now. 178K miles on it

 

there are guys running 500+ hp on the toyota 2jz engine (non turbo) with only an upgraded head gasket and head studs.

 

those stock blocks that come in cars arent really ment for boost that you guys listed.. i mean cmon look at the rods in the ls... three dinky..i mean they may be bigger than the d series that not a good comparison.. IF you want a solid block thats na.... look for turbo diesel engines that were converted over to be used as gasoline engines. ie.. The jetta vr6 block. not only is there block think but there rods are pretty hefty too. i would also bet most of the quality german made engines are pretty hefty. Like bmw, just lower compression add boost and i bet it would last forever also.

 

my friends ls had 22 lbs daily driven for like 4 months then it went poop.almost any d series can handle 10 lbs on a small to meduim sized turbo with a good tune. thatswhere its at is teh tune. ive ben runnin 10 to 15 lbs on my d16y8 with a 48 60 t3 now for about 3 months on a base map that runs real rich. just seein how far i can push it cuz i got back ups in the mail(eagle rods new srp pistons blah blah blah) and its stock all the way cept for exhaust.

 

bmw str8 6 is the "the german RB26" my father had a 99' M3 coupe with a mossleman turbo kit, it ran for 3 years no problems and smoked the doors off many porsches etc. damn i miss that car
