Default turbo too big??

ok ive got a stock gsr motor w/160k on it. im gonna start piecing together my own turbo kit. i want it to be reliable with the stock internals for now.lookin for about 225-250whp

i can get a turbonetics p-trim .81ar t4 turbo for a pretty good price ($500), but i question how well this big ol turbo will work with low boost settings due to stock internals, also what kinda power i can expect of a good tune.

any help or suggestions would be appreciated.....also what injectors would be best

thats way too big of a turbo. at what low boost you would have to run it, it wouldnt be worth the time to install, try and find yourself a t3 of sort like a 48/49

even a 14b is small at the very least go with a t3 .48/.60 or a t3/t4 hybrid

If she were a little fresher, you could shoot for 300-350whp reliably.

You mean .84 AR, and unless you are constructing a split turbine manifold that's a bit too big.

.58 AR turbine housing will set you back $150 or less on hookup from a retail outlet... it occurs to me that Trav-*** has a spare on-center .58 AR P-trim turbine that's never been used he'd probably let go... and should have you spooling by 3500-3800, 3 psi by 4000-4200 and then the boost gauge's needle *flies*, with a large volume merge collector manifold.

I've seen 1.9 liter GSR spool a 62-1/T4 with P-trim .84 AR by 4500 rpms, but it was a lag lag lag spin spin spin machine.

I say try it. From now on, I reccomend everyone slap the biggest turbo's they can find on their cars, run without a wastegate and just let build as much boost as it can at the redline.

ok thanks to everyone but ichbimsobose, if you think i am ------- stupid you are wrong. i could easily use this turbo when i build my motor this summer which is why i wanted to get it now and save some of the hassle later, but thanks for your smart *** reply, it helped immensly.

i dont wanna go with a 14b, yeah itd spool quick, but ive never liked those on b series, gsr especially. id much rather go with a t3 .48/.60 or a t3/t4 hybrid as someone mentioned. i guess ill look around and see what i can find

on a side note, how much whp are dsm 450's good for?

I dont think you're stupid. I told you to run the ------- turbo. Thats advice, take it or leave it. Eveyone told me not to run my turbo, and it came out perfect...soooo I think people sometimes overestimate lag.Go hug your boyfriend.
