SAFC's suck ***. Poor tuning resolution, and they do one thing for all that money... & not that well to begin with.
Go buy an SMT-6. Then you've got ignition timing, a extra injector controller/wastegate controler/solenoid controler, a switchable output, and can tune a voltage/frequency based AFM/MAF/MAP, or re-tune a lambda o2 sensor on that output.
Not to mention multiple inputs to scale your tuning with... Good to use for a temp sensor, or MAP sensor while retaining a stock AFM/MAF if it has one (Or the stock MAP & tune against a 2-3 bar MAP, whatever)
$100 over the SAFC-II get's you something that can actually run an engine by itself if you just *had* to try to do that.
---- AFC's of all kinds. Overpriced, single function ---- that's only popular because newbies like a pretty screen to look at & have little control over what they're doing.
At any rate... Use an SMT-6 to scale back the ignition timing on a boost sensor & add fuel with a single extra injector. Make minor adjustments to whatever main air sensor it has (or the o2 sensors if it's a narrow band. That's insanely smoothe. God forbid newbs ever pick-up on that...). That way you have better off & boost transition driveability. Infinately easier tuning & no issues with closed-loop systems.
Sounds like a really fun project to be working on! I love being in the minority with cars like that where hardly anyone else is actively doing anything. It's always fun to say "I was the first, or second to do something & I'm the fastest, or second fastest". How many people get to really do that

If the rods hold up, arent thoes engines similar to the VVTI toyota echo engines? the rods on thoes are about the size(if not thinner and weaker) than the D15. anyway, good luck anyway, keep the boost down and keep it safe.
