Torque specs with diff gasket!! help
Okay I did search but found no luck for the past hour.
I'm rebuilding a z6 and I wanna run about 7 pounds of boost
the engine is stock exept for a y8 intake mani.
I know that if i use a d16a6 gasket it will lower my comp .2 from
9.14:1 to 8.94:1 according to the compression calculator.
However, will I torque the z6 head to the z6 block using the a6 specs or z6?
and, do you know how many pounds i can run safely in a stock d16z6?
thanx in advance

Are you sure the Torque specs are different for the diff. H/G? My advice is use the Z6 gasket especially if youre gonna boost. If you havent milled the head you should be Ok. But if you must run the A6 H/G then I would torque it 5ft lbs more then the stock 45ft lbs.
This is what you do. Take a good look at the stock a6 headgasket, than the z6 one. Once you realize one is MLS and the other is composite ----, buy the MLS and torque to z6 specs using z6 bolts.
The a6 specs are 47 and the z6 is 22 and 53. If I just go with the z6, how many pounds can I run safely? I've read from 7-10 is safe. Is that so? My friend had said to keep it at 7 of it would blow. I've read here that it all depends on the tunning.
Anyone know?
