ok, I was just browsing around and was reading on the edelbrock throttle bodies for D/B-series engines and it says they're based off of their 5.0 mustang throttle bodies.

And then it shows the pic of the t.b...and it still looks identical to a mustang t.b. even down to the TPS sensor.

So, here's my confusion. Are they using ford TPS sensors on their honda t.b.'s?? can our ecu's read the ford TPS signal correctly??

I mean, in theory, it sounds like it should work right? a tps sensor does nothing more than sweep from 0v-5v so the signals should be the same right??

or can you just swap on a honda TPS onto the ford t.b.??

main reason I ask is because their t.b. looks just like the 70mm units on the early 90's 4.6l cars that you can find in the junkyard a dime a dozen so it seems like it would be just a cheap upgrade to grab one of them and slap it on after whipping up a little adapter plate or whatnot.

Just curious if anyone else has noticed this??

EDIT: Just in case...I did search and read how they dont have the IACV or idle screw stuff but this isnt my question. My question is whether or not the ford TPS signal is compatible with our ecu??

 

Are you sure the pins are the same ?

 

tps has 3 wires
ground
5 volt refrence
and the 0-5v wire

they almost all work the same

 

Pretty sure the 4.6 Tb's are 65mm, I have one out in the garage I can check later today. So if you have to have a 70 or 75 you might need to look elsewhere.

Yes, they work just fine (the map sensors) I have a 75mm edlebrock one with the adapter plate on a victor x manifold all bored out right and everything.

 

cool. I figured it was just a standard 0-5v signal but wasnt sure if maybe there was some sort of built in resistance that wouldnt be compatible across the lines.

I've got two 70mm throttle bodies at my house. one is from a 94 4.6 thunderbird and the other is from an early 90's 4.6 copcar. Measured the diameter of the inner opening of the throttle body and they are both definitely 70mm...the matching MAF on the cars was 75mm. Just leftover stuff from one of my mustang projects and when I saw the edelbrock throttle bodies, got to thinking about using one on my hatch when I swap in the b18a
