Stupid Question......

Somehow both my cd and dvd burner we uninstalled. How do I run the Cd's with the drivers with no drive's installed. Any help? Thanks guys

 

What are they?

 

The cd burner is a Samsung CD-R/Rw SW-248F and the Dvd burner is a Sony DVD-RW DRU-170A.

 

They should be automatically picked up by windows. No need to run any software for windows to see them. Perhaps they got unplugged or something? You could also try checking BIOS to see if they are being recognized by the motherboard. Usually, to do this - right as the PC is starting up, hit F1 a few times to get into BIOS and look either in the General area or the IDE HDD detection area.

 

I went into system set-up and they were there. They were set to auto, But in Device manager the have a yellow ! behind the and there not under My Computer anymore. They are still plugged in. Any other Ideas? Any way to auto run the cd's? Thanks man

and if you have xp.. those drivers shouldnt have been an issue.. xp has a driver data base.. do they light up? open and close? are they recognized at all? this is wierd.. go do windows update.. it MIGHT fix it.. either way.. wouldnt hurt to update the drivers..

hmmm.. apparently there is a dru 170.. but no drivers for it on the sony website..

click products on the drop down.. i dont see a 170a.. but i see a 710a.. ------- wierd.. but i see 170a's online and everywhere else..
