Default dohc zc ?

what all did they come in? I want to upgrade from a d16a6 in the trailerpark rally car and I was thinking a zc. How are they compared to a a6 for holding up to boost? Will they yield much more power then the a6 or should I just swap a z6 head on the bitch and run vtec? :1

footnotes: dont know ---- all about zc's

ZC are stout little motors. I love mine and would pick a DOHC ZC ANYDAY over any other D. Longer powerband from what I've felt (never studied the curves because who dynos stock Engines, and every one respond Differently to mods). Due to the larger quench area of the head they like more timing the a SOHC, thus making power easier.

www.thezcr.com is great for zc resources. Any questions just ask. The only problem people say is finding parts. I have never hard this problem. There are lists with OEM Part #'s, I've basicaaly replaced eventhing on mine over the years for maintenance and never had a problem finding the parts.

I liked mine. I was able to put down 220hp on about 9psi. My car was decently fast. I was never able to get a clean run at the track, but I think it was capable of low13's-high12's

The only downside is the availability of them. After poping my second one I couldn't find a replacement for cheap, so I have a sohc zc in there now.

I have most of the parts to build another one, but I'm done with boosted hondas for awhile. Probly just end up selling it all and going with a built B next winter in a crx.

Nope, they only really come from JDM land, the USDM variants are a tiny bit different, and don't bolt into 4/5G Civics.

I have 2 sitting in my basement, one I got after calling a local shop and asking what sort of D-series stuff they had lying around, the other was off a local forum. They're out there, it's all in where you look and who you ask.

I currently have a zc (1600 dohc) after I sold my b16a integra.
Have to admit they do perform exceptionally well keeping in mind for what they are , even at stock.
Its in a '88 civic 3door hatch , no power steering and no power windows so the car is light.
Dont realy know much about the sohc zc's , prefer the dohc over sohc any day.

In my opnion the dohc zc is the next best thing to the b16a, especially on forced induction
