smoking
i just installed my turbo and when i come to an idle and sit for a second smoke will rool out from the hood. when i take off the hood the smoke is coming from the turbo. i was wondering if it could be the coolant lines are backwards? i didn't try to find out which ones went where. their seems to be a little bit of oil on the intake housing but not enough to make it smoke like that. anyone have any thoughts?
Give it a little time to dry the oil. It might just be the oil you said was on it.

well i didn't exactly get the intake housing snug after rotating it. i hope that is all it is. i need to tighten a couple more bolts i couldn't get too today also. but ya'll don't think it is the coolant lines?
I doubt the coolant lines would be causing smoke. Maybe if they were spraying coolant on the hot turbo. Tighten up the turbo and se what happens.

Make sure your return line is not backing up. Make sure the angle is fine to dump it into the oil pan. If it does not it will cause smoking if this is not it it is the seals. Went through the same with my first turbo.
well, the outlet on the turbo points down but because it hangs so low the return line goes up into the oil pan. to make it go down i would have had to drill into the sump and then it would have been straight across.
