Re: help wiring welder
the two big wires will go to the white and black wire; the little wire to green that is the ground.
be very careful and make DOUBLE SURE your connections from one plug to the other are VERY SOUND; 220v + lots of amps = BIIIIIIIIIIG sparks and death

Re: help wiring welder
yea, and make sure ur breaker is off while ur wiring it up, or just dont have it connected.
good luck and what was said above should be right, the smaller wire is for ground, so whatever the welder color is for ground, hit that, the other two should be swappable.

Re: help wiring welder
I hope it worked out okay. Maybe he got zapped and fell into the washer.
If want to be sure about the connections just take a volt meter and test the connections. 2 of the possible three connections will only read around 120 volts while the other one will read around 240 volts.

the black and white are the hot and neutral (really doesn't matter polarity as its always changin) and the green weldder wire is the ground that goes to the smaller wire on the dryer. I used to work at an appliance store and we'd have to wire the welder to the type of plug in the house; its not that hard; just be very careful; a loose connection or a short can be very intersting.

Re: help wiring welder
That is strange. As far as I know the color codes, the two hot wires are supposed to be black and red. The white wire should be neutral and the green or sometimes bare wire should be ground. This is the canadian wire code however.
