Default telling the difference between the b18a1's

ok the b18a1 from 90-91 are rated at 130 hp @ 6000
and the 92-93 are rated at 140hp @ 6300

i did a littl ereading and found out that it is becouse the cams.

now here is the deal i have 2 ls motors sitting in my garage i know that one is out of a 91, but i have no idea what year the other one is they look the same except for on the front of the block of the 91 motor near where the tranny bolts up there is a huge bolt looking like it is pluging a hole. and on the other motor there is a huge sensor in the hole. i thought that that might have been the determining factor but someone told me that it was a canadian motor, i dont know if that matters or if it is true. so i looked at the cams and my 91 motor says r2 on the intake cam and r5 on the exhaust side. the other motor says r2 on the intake side and r3 on the exhaust.

so if you know ls motors please help.....

do you know what year the mistory motor is ??

92 intake manifold uses short base iacv

90-91 manifold uses long base manifold

the difference is more in the ecu tuning swappin cams is maybe 1-2 whp

90-91: FITV on T-body, shorter alt belt, smaller IM, one temp sensor, O2 sensor closer to head
92-93: FITV on IM, longer belt, bigger mani, 2 temp sensors, O2 sensor near cat

try to look for a stamp on the block with the manufacture date

I suppose block heaters are not to common in most of the states.

Yeah, what he said, O2 will be before the cat, and the manifold is different, I have nothing to say about the LS, unless it has a B16 head on it.
