Default Need help. Datalloging cable goes nuts...??

I have a buddies ECU and Im trying to wire a dataloogging cable to it. Its the motorola v70 phone cord.

Mobile phone interface pin Description
1 GND
4 Tx (USB D-)
5 Rx (USB D+)
6 VBus

Thats the pinouts I need and wired them all correctly (At least I think I did). Anywhoe maybe you can telll me whats up. I think it has to do with a grounding issue but you tell me. When I run my program all the values go nuts. LIke while im idling, the datalog shows from anywhere near 2000rpm to -3rpm. Anyone know what might be causing this?

TIA
