timing and fmu

Default timing and fmu

would it be ok to run my stock timing settings if im using a fmu and running around 5.5 -6.5 psi i have 1 step colder plugs gapped at .028?

I wouldnt retard the timing at the dsitributor at all if I was only running 5-6 lbs on an FMU

we retarded my timing on my d15 by 2 degrees and i'm runnin 8 psi and its runnin alot better now

i wouldn't wait two minutes after eating a big lunch to go swim..but that doesn't mean its smart to do so...what u wanna do blow the damn engine

Ok, the technical reason...

Leave the timing stock...dont run over 6 psi on an FMU.

In vacuum (part throttle) driving...you want everything the same. All of the fuel and timing maps will be affected if you retard at the distributor, leaving you slightly laggy and running richer off boost than what you should be doing.

Stock maps are severly safe on the timing end. Me and I know other tuners dont generally retard any timing until about 4 psi of boost from the stock maps...whats 2 more psi at such a low level of power. You will basically be running the timing from the last column of fuel maps from 0-6psi...which is fine. No major risk there.

Besides, how many fruit cakes are running around on the AFC hack which actuall ADVANCES your timing in that area just fine.

The major risk with an FMU is the high fuel rail pressures and the chance that an injector will fail or lock up under boost...not the timing.
