Default ignition timing....what a differance

so i have a new boosted z6 motor and am using the same unknown distributor which once again only allows the top bolt to hold it on. so the motor runs decent in boost and actually only ok out of boost. i thought it might be the timing so i bought a gun yesterday and checked. with the jumper wire in it is firing at tdc. so i slam the distributor forward but it will only go to about 8 degrees. what a differance in driving.

question is instead of buying a z6 dizzy, could i just bump the cam gear a tooth or two ahead and then retard the ignition some to get the 16 degrees that's called for? i'm running uberdata so most people leave it at 16 degrees and at most kick it back to 14 right?

You could enlarge the top slot to get a few more degrees. (not the best solution, but it works.)
