Default d16a9 noises.........STILL...ARGHHHHHHH

Hi gang,

was getting knocking noises in my d16a9 so i replaced the big end bearings with new ones. This is a distinct knock at about 3500 under load.....NOT TAPPETS.

anyway, that didn't fix it......any more ideas would greatly help guys.

there is absolutely no loss of power in this engine, it is very very fit....and no smoke, 93000 miles though.

i was maybe thinking of crank main bearings or piston gudgeon pins, perhaps water pump bearing, whaddya think?

also, one last problem.........engine is in car and i have no air tools...ok.

can i shift the crank pulley bolt at all....NO!...............any sneaky tips guys?

thanks

andy

what kind of knocking noise do you hear? check your oil level? It could be also your main/rod bearings. Did you make sure your crank dont have any wears before installing the bearings in?

Hi sleeper........

The crank was absolutely spot on when i took the big ends out................

Its real hard to describe the knocking man............you can clearly hear it coming through the bulkhead........sounds low down.........harder to hear outside with the exhaust etc.

doesnt sound crazy like.............not a noise at idle............just on rev up with part throttle for example.

i might be mad but it seems to be from timing belt side but dont count on it.

this is what is making me thing water pump.

getting real broed of this
