Default Bondo / fibreglass body mech's advise plz!

Ok.. at the HMT meet here in ontario I had a hole patched in the trunk of my crx. It is just tacked in every 1.5" or so and I want to strengthen it up alot.

What do u guys suggest I use.

body filler? (bondo?)
fibreglass?
jb weld?

PS I also plan to paint it w/ rust inhibiting paint and use under car spray to seal the underside.

thx guyz / gals

*heh whoops, didn't notice u wanted to strengthen it, not make it pretty

why dont u just finish off the weld? then maybe jb weld over it (outside and inside if u can)

- sand the entire trunk down to primer, or if u dont care about ur paint then just sand the area around the patch
- put a good size glob down, let it dry (like overnight)
- sand it smooth so it flows with the body
** if its not flush with the body and/or not satisfactory, put more bondo on and repeat
- primer it
- paint it

start out with medium grit paper, then use fine for the final adjustments

well fiberglass and bondo will crack. i dunno about JB weld but i's sure that'll crack too. you r best bet is just to finish welding it around.

if u want it to be water proof without paint or clear use fiberglass
if u dont care cuz ur gonna paint it and clear it use bondo, mind u bondo can sometimes trap moisture

maybe I should have mentioned. this is INSIDE the car, where the spare tire jack mount was. RIGHT under that bracket is where the hole is/was. I have the full interior to put back in so my main concern is water tight and stregth. I dont care if the paint i use to cover it is florescent pink

I also cannot finish off the weld because 1) I dont have a welder, a friend did it for me and 2) the patch panel is Stainless and the car is not, welding it like it is now was difficult enough.

Fibreglass + Duramix body filler = WIN

If it's undersomething, you don't really care about how it looks, but if you wanted to make it look nice use the above recipe.

I would personally just add more welds? Welding is definately your strongest option, can we get a pic of the patch?

You should fiberglass it on the inside and out if you do it right you should be able to hit it with a hammer and it wont crack Don't really try to hit it I just know from experiance

Get it welded if you want it stronger or fibreglass over it if you want it sealed.
