sorry to bring up an old thread, but this can be done by just swapping the entire compressor side of the turbo right? and i can do it myself?
i'm just concerned about balancing issues, i've read that even rebuilds should be done by a shop who can rebalance everything. has anyone done this themselves? does anyone know if the bearings wear faster?
thanks

i'd like to start with "i'm sorry for thread jacking" and i'm worried about the balancing issues though.
i was reading that as long as both turbos were balanced as the wheels being balanced seperately and not as an individual unit it is fine, cause it is the way older turbos were balanced and is mainly for noise and will not make the turbo perform any better.
the way to tell is if the nuts on the compressor is ground down it is balanced as one unit and if the nut isn't gound down the wheels are balanced seperately and it would be ok to swap and balancing is not needed. wanted to know before i do a rebuild.
