Default lsvtec turbo arp rod bolts.

i hear about ls rod bolts stretching but has anyone really had probs or experienced it b4.

The LS has 8mm rod bolts, Its one of the weak links of the LS bottom end. Most people I know change them out for LS/Vtec but its your choice, If you are going to build it and want to do it right change them, ARP's are only 35 bucks.

talked to jeff yesterday and said on 3 of lsvtec hes built he just used stock rod bolts too, shifted at 8500 and all and has never had any problems, ive heard this from many people as well as my old lsvtec. so i duno just trying to get opinions.

I wouldnt worry about replacing the rod bolts unless you had higher goals than 300whp.

lol, ya he wants it to be reliable so im hoping with his t3t4 .63/.60 57 trim on 10psi it makes at least 270

if you have the engine out of the car, $35 is good insurance for me... <SHRUG> your call.

Yeah, take no chances on the rod bolts. I pushed a Z6 over the edge before and damaged the #3 cylinder. I say buy some arp bolts for the rods.

never really put them in b4? how do u go about it?

there supposed to be a press fit but you should be able to get them in/out fine without. its also recommended to have the big ends of the rods replastiguaged after you install the rod bolts because they have a higher TQ value than the stockers.
