H-beam ls rods into a zc?

A local guy has a set of used eagle H-beam ls rods for sale for $200. Since stock ls rods work in a d16 why wouldn't H-beams?

they can be made to work, but after all the trouble and machine costs, it would be CHEAPER to buy a new set of D series Eagles @ $299 + S&H.
