I worked temporally at this book store for a week and I put in about 28hrs. So I went to get my check today and they gave me more hours then I suppose to have. Now Im wondering what should I do?? WIll I get in trouble for this??

about how much was the over pay?
few dollars or 15+

few dollars dont worry about it but if its alot do the right thing

 

I had that happen once where i got almost doulbe paid, I kept quiet and just saved it, ended up the company realized it and underpaid me on a check a couple months later. good thing i saved the extra.
if its small dont worry about it, if its big, be careful what you do with it.

 

Let's see.....you worked at a book store for 28 hours and they gave you, what, like 35-40 hours instead? At about $8/hour and an extra ~10 hours you got a whopping $80 extra, which after taxes leaves you with ~$60? I wouldn't really worry about it.

Then again, if this is a place that you will be back working or if it's friends or friends of the family, take the check back and tell them it's wrong. They'll probably just give it to you anyways.

they did that to me in toys r us. i got 300 bucks instead of 250. working the same houres. infact i worked like 1 more houre the whole week. i was like... pffft and deposited it.

 

I used to work for a family friend that had too much money to even spend. When there was $100 extra I gave it back to him. It's little things like that that make you feel you're on the better side of "what goes around comes around" in life.


But if IBM gave me a free $100, I'd tell them they shorted me.
