What were your clearances? Were you watching your oil pressure?

sucks; i've had 2 sets of bearingds die on me

1st set was way too loose of clearances; second set was because my turbo thought it would be cool to not let my engine have any oil pressure :-/

then my idiot friend spun 2 sets of bearings on the same motor; first time he ran out of oil second time he cut so many corners on the rebuild of that engine that there were no corners left to cut

Bearings are bearings. It's the clearances that are ------- you up.

Steve, the bearings I put in were from honda, the car ran flawless for 2 weeks, the clearances were within spec, the maximum clearance allowed according to the manual is .0002", mine were within .0001" when I plastiguaged them, I also plastiguaged the mains and they were within spec, so I dont know what the ---- happened, Oil pressure was good too About 12psi at idle and 55 psi at 3000 RPM manual says (minimum) 10 psi at idle and 50 at 3000, so i'm within spec on that too, the engine was broken in properly, ran strong for the time I had it, and then before I made this post I was driving home, and on a downshift to second from thinrd @ only 2000prm coming up to the lights I started noticing some ticking coming and going, then I noticed some oil start to burn, and then the ticking got louder from the bottom of the crank case.

Cyl#4 burns the oil, to the point there it ***** up my spark plug and makes the point touch the electrode, so every now and then I have to pull the plug and regap it and put it back in or else my car runs on 3 cylinders.

Anyway, if any of you can think of what happened, let me know, for now i'm still driving it, I need my car to go to work and back and dont have the time to be ------- around with the engine right now.

I'm going to be buying an LS bottom end and tranny, along with what I need to mount the LS in my car, plans are simple, LS block, Tuner Toys rods, stock pistons and a blockguard...10psi and i'm happy with the 13's. i'll be running.

I'm going to try my hardest to make it to the HMT meet, but if I have no engine that runs then its kinda hard to drive down there.
