Default My new ITB project (pics)

Well after welding Trance's manifold I figure I should make a set as a project. I bought a set of CBR600F4i throttle bodies. I figured since the TPS and map plug in and the harness is in tact that it would be the way to go. The setup I bought came complete with everything including the air box. I stripped it down to what you see in the pictures. I first measured my Y8 manifold from the head so I knew they can't exceed 12" total length. Steve hooked me up with the left over tubing from his ITB setup. I cut the aluminum tubing to some small straight pieces to start with. I also cut the flange from a Y7 manifold. I noticed that the runners have to be angled because you can't serparate the ITB's except in the middle and that would be a huge hassle because of the fuel rail and linkage. I cut some rough angles by eye on the chop saw. This is what you see in the picture.

I then tried to smooth the manifold and contour a bit. I left the injector bungs so that they can be used for vaccuum or nitrous ports. The ITB's have a vaccuum harness already attached. I dont think it is big enough to work the vacuum booster for the brakes though. So I started to line up the holes for the runners. This is a pain in the ***. GSXR itbs are spaced and easier to work with. This is how far I got so far.

I may cut the runners shorter. If I do I will have to put even more angle on them which is more difficult. I'm not sure yet. I anlged them up a bit. If I cut them more I will angle them up a bit more I think.

I still have a lot of fitment to do on the runners. I will continue to update this thread as I make progress. Since I never drive my car, I actually may try to boost these. I don't want to have to modify my intercooler plumbing too much in case I want to switch back. I'll see how far my patience goes when they are done. If not, they will be sold.

Looking good there Dave. Looks like you've got the angles all figured out correctly. It's a little different with other throttlebodies. Some you can separate and space, others you can't. If you do you need to figure out what to do about the fuel rail etc. (as mentioned), but it's not too bad. Thats about the point I'm at right now. Can't wait to see these things finished Dave

very nice
maybe the runners are a little long but if it fits right in the engine bay then run it that way

i wonder how much hp these will give u
jeff got 160 outta his
dru got 130 from his y8

u can probably say they turn ur factory rated crank hp to wheel hp

It should be making around 215whp now. I really wouldn't expect any gains. I would just do it for fun and to see if I can get it work and run correctly.

If you decide to not go threw with it I'll buy that flange and tubing from you! Seriously though don't give up on them. Just chop some of the runners down a bit and you'll be golden!

if you cut the fuel rail, you can attach a short fuel hose w/ clamps. not sure how the linkage works on that.

those look cool, I hadn't thought about the brake issue though. Good luck with the build.
