i have a doch zc (d16z5) in my garage, i also have my hands on a 91 crx vtec (b16a1) with a blown engine.. so i'm thinking this would be an easy swap!?? the egine should drop in easy, ringht..? but what motor mounts to use? and can i use the vtec drive shafts on the zc transmisson? if not i probably have to change the wheel hubs to the ones from the zc right? and what about the harness? i have the engine harness and the ecu.. what do you guys think..?

i dont believe its a bolt in. otherwise our b16 swaps wouldnt need a mount kit.

get another b16 and you're golden.

 

hmm. are you sure you need a mount kitt to swap a b16a1 from a crx into a crx (non vtec)..?

 

the ZC uses the regular crx engine mounts. and u need an ecu from a 88 or 89 integra 5 spd. u dont need that ecu but thats the best one for it. everything else i dont know. i dont think the shafts will work with the zc.

Here's what i know.

JDM ZC motor bolts right into a USDM Honda Crx
JDM B16 requires a mount to bolt into a USDM Crx

that tells me that the JDM non b16 crx has the same engine mount locations as a usdm. meaning that to put a b16 into a non b16 crx (jdm or usdm) you need a mount kit.

The ZC should drop in fine.
Over here they do B16A1 swaps all the time with without e special mount kit..they just use the B16A1 mounts from the CRX vti in a normal CRX.
Keep the stock harnass and just slap in a ZC ecu.
The splines of the hub are the same so you don't need to change that....I don't know if the VTi axles fits in the ZC tranny though..they do seem to be the same lenght.
the mount itself they are the same...the only thing is you got to look at the piace that is bolted to the block...I don't remember which to use.
I think only the Tranny mount differs but I do know that the rear and the engine mount should fit from Vti to the ZC engine.
