i am gonna rebuild my engine, h23a, and i am wondering what rings to use. i am gonna just have the bottom end re-ringed and honed. i am installing a port and polished head with a 3 angle valve job. the head was milled and i put in new valve seals. the intake is port matched and so is the turbo manifold ,not being installed yet . i also removed the butteryfly plate on the intake manifold. i know that these engines are know for weak rings so what rings should i use? i can get honda rings from work for $104 for all. i just saw some hastings chrome moly piston rings for $85 for all. which one would u better to go with?

 

i've seen a couple people in here mentioning hastings rings...i know you can get them cheap..not sure on the quality but i do know lots of people who use them so they can't be too bad

 

Hastings are well known, all of my friends rebuilding their V8's put hastings in and I'm using them on my D so... do it up.

 

Ya my Vitara pistons come with the hastings so ill be using them, apparently they can take some boost.

 

I've used Nippon Piston Rings. ------' bad *** compression...
