Default ic tube/fin vs. bar/plate?

not really sure which is more efficient... i would think tube and fin would be. anyone have any first hand comparison experience? obviously air to water would be most efficient at the strip, but i'm looking for day to day driving efficiency. i would like to buy a core after i get my welder and make my own.

if i rememeber correctly it is because there is a greater surface area therefore it helps dissipate heat a lot faster/better

they are more efficient because there is more surface area to dissipate the heat. Sorry, but being a mechanical engineering major, this is exactly the stuff we study in heat transfer. Its also why computer processors have heatsinks, same situation. Anyway, whichever has more surface area will be better, so if thats bar/plate like people say, go with it. later,
