best D intake mani & throttle body for boost, d16y8
Yeah. I have my A6 all apart fixing the head gasket. When I take ---- apart, I want to replace it with better stuff.
It seems like the Y8 intake manifold is the best for boost.
Any down sides to the bigger intake mani?
It takes different throttle bodies.
Y8 TB is 54 mm.
Teg LS TB is 58mm.
GSR TB is 60mm.
Bigger throttle body gives you a bit better throttle response. Any trade offs? Negatives.
I don't race. Mostly I like twisty hill climbs on the street, and on dirt roads.

Thought the LS was 60 and the gsr is 62?
They are.
They taper. The hole is bigger diameter on charge pipe side, small on IM side
Y8 TB 56 -> 54mm.
LS TB 60 -> 58mm.
GSR TB 62 -> 60mm.

I don't really think that is right. This is what I have found after doing a little reseaching. I am pretty sure they are just talking about size right at the butterflys also. I don't think the stock TB's taper either, but I could be wrong and I am too lazy to go look or measure mine.
56mm... d-series
58mm... older LS, 1st gen JDM b16
60mm... newer LS, B16, GSR
62mm... ITR
Check this site out... www.maxbore.com
"I can convert your First gen JDM B16 throttle body to ITR specs
I can convert your non VTEC integra throttle body to ITR specs
I can make your GSR or DOHC Civic Si throttle body to 2mm over ITR specs
I can turn your ITR throttle body to a massive 65mm and taper out to 70mm"
I am pretty sure I remember reading you can't go more than 4mm over, so if this is true my sizes for throttle bodies should be correct.

Oh and you should be fine with the y8 intake mani and a 60mm or 62mm throttle body. I'm sure it will be a nice improvement over the stock intake and 56mm TB. Make sure to port the manifold out to the TB size though.
