Well i bought a hi flow 2.5 cat converter for my exhaust and my plan is to run the downpipe into the cat and turn down. My last turbo setup had NO piping for a while, just straight out of the turbo . I had an exhaust shop put some pipe on it but it was way too small and all top end was gone. I see a lot of people on here run open downpipe but how do get away with it for so long. Isnt the Catalytic converter fine like 2k plus dollars?
I know open dp isnt that loud but a civic isnt suppose to sound like a coal truck and police would notice that.

 

i have a cat but its all hollow yes its a big *** ticket but their are ways to get away with it. As for open down pipe in CA. hmm i bet that would get alot of attention.

If i were you i would find a stock cat and beat the insides out of it.

 

what size is the piping to the factory cat? im running a gutted one on my NA car now. The exhaust doesent smell bad at all but it can shoot vapor out the exhaust all the time when it gets cold.

 

i am running a partial dp, stops right in front of the motor. but i want to put exhaust on it. all it needs is another 45 and it can str8 back to the cat. a muffler shop said they would do it, 2.5, from where its at all the way back for 300. thats if i give them the cat, they said leagally they have to install it. but im not sure if the crushbends would be good enough. i would like to get 3 in mandrel(sp?) bent exhaust, but i was wondering about how to go from 2.5 to the cat then from the cat to 3 in. i am interested in what everyone else's exhaust set is also.

 

i have a 2.5 in mandrel bend downpipe and 2.5 crush bend exhuast. im getting a 3 inch mandrel bend exhuast asap and putting a high flow cat in there as well

 

when i had my turbo ride all i had was open pipe
wasn't loud and my little SOHC vtec had a nice little roar when i was boosting. My next setup i plan to have a full exhuast. hopefully I can get this welder off evosol and start practicing

Boost- I like the work on that exhaust. I thought about that for my dp.
