Default turbo changeover valve WTF ---VW question

I have a buddy here who has a VW, I hate messin with it because its all 100% electronic controlled, but a shop in town is tryin to tell him he needs a "turbo changeover valve" because his O2 sensor went bad.

WTF is a turbo change over valve. -and why would it go bad because of an o2 sensor?

I think they are BS'n him, tryin to get more money from him. *******.

um, i don't think there is such thing as a 'change over valve'. tell tire country to ---- themselves. o2 sensors for vw's are like 35 bucks brand new. i wonder how much they charged him just for that

they want something like $350 for a new "turbo changeover valve" a o2 sensor and to install the O2 sensor.

yeah, so it's not called a change over valve, it's a diverter valve. that's like calling a tire a 'ground toucher roller' :P. anyways, frank, let me check how much the diverter valve is, they're easy to change, so is the o2, and i know for a fact they're only 40 bucks shipped, b/c my boy has had a million vdubs.

they have diverter valves, they don't make noise b/c they redirect the air back in to the charge pipes b/c they have maf sensor, not map.
