I was wondering how hard is it to replace the piston & rods? Any spacial tools needed?
I ended up blowing my motor on 11 PSI last week and I have decided to build the block. I just need to know if I should do it or send it out.

Lets say I send off the block to get honed. Is it hard to take out the old pistons and rods and put the new stuff? Is it just put in the new stuff and torque to spec?

 

Its hard of yu dont have the right tools or experience. Do you know anything about that kind of work?

 

yeah, you obviously have no experience, read up alittle pit, pick up the haynes manual, etc. You gotta press the pistons on the rods anyway.

 

if u use aftermarket rods and pistons u dont have to press anything

 

easy as 12345678910, you can hone the cylinders with ball type hone attached to a drill, if you know how to change a head gasket and a oil pan seal you are 3/4 of the way there.
all you need to know then is your proper specs: torque specs,ring gap. and the proper size bearings.
and also if you honed the cylinders with the block still in the car cover the crank so you wont score them with the hone tool. use lots fluid, I used hydrolic fluid, they also have honing oil. its was easy for me on my 1st time.
