hey this is homemade turbo right?!?! hahaha nah but really can you use pvc or abs pipes for the charge piping. i mean i know they can handle a lot of psi, but im not sure what kinds of temperatures they can handle. ya it may not look very nice, but itd be a hell of a lot easier than mandrel bent.

 

I Think that it would be just about as hard to use. The PVC starts to have problems at a pretty low temp considering it is under the hood.

Go do a search of the site, this has been brought up a ton of times.

The answer is no though, don't use PVC.

 

Are you kidding me?? WTf are you talking about? Yes you can use PVC for charge piping. Just dont use it right off the turbo and you'll be fine.

 

yea it will work just dont run that ---- close to exhaust unless you like being N/A again

 

my turbo had a metal elbow off of the compressor, about 8 inches long, and then I ran pvc the rest of the way. the only issue I had was that I had no silicon connectors, so I used a rubber one. it had to sit almost directly above the turbo, so it warped and melted. after a couple of months, the PVC pipe had deformed, but it still held boost.

 

I've seen PVC charge piping before and they didn't have any problems. Just don't connect directly to the compressor housing or run it close the the manifold or turbo itself. Besides that rock that ----.

 

nate u seen my pvc charge pipes, they still hold boost, well since i do sprinkler system, i use the thicks pvc they hold 170psi and temps at 78F, just dont run it close to the turbo, u dont have to use silicone cuppplings, i use pvc elbows and use a special type of glue that holds them in place, pretty strong, i like it and its a cheap way to spend money on charge pipes, oh yea zip ties are ur friends too =)

 

Honestly I wouldnt run PVC pipes, when it gets hot it puts off some bad fumes for a engine, but if you use it on the cold side of the IC you should be fine. I'd suggest running ABS pipes, they are about the same price as PVC plus they look better. My buddy teds Turbo SBC 350 uses all ABS pipes all glued together with a Lancer EV08 intercooler and works flawlessly.
