Default Question about 'ghetto' boost guage

I went to the autoparts store and they boost guage was 59.99. Ouch I was wondering if the guage I bought for checking my fpr's vacuum. The guy says it can check both pressure and boost would work as a 'ghetto' boost guage? I'm just wonder if I can cut that corner with this trick.

I have a non-backlit $5 grainger vacuum/boost gauge in the POSrex. It is merely serviceable... it lags 1.5 seconds or so behind the real pressure as read by the MAP.

I imagine any mechanical boost gauge is going to lag a tad, but I'm going to guess and say this is a bit worse than what a good gauge reads like.

Hum... thats a good idea. They can I use any guage that reads PSI to read the boost? I'll send a few bucks on a guage that will fit in a pod. but it wont be the boost guage.

You can order cheap *** actual boost gauges from summit.... I think they're like 25-27 bucks... and very accurate, and backlit, too.
