Smallest exhaust size under 300hp
Hey peoples,I did a search but couldnt find anything.I was just wondering if i could keep my greddy piping on my dohc vtec soon to be boosted or if i need to get something bigger for the turbo application. The greddy piping is rather large but to be on the safe side id say its 2 1/4. My friends tell me to to swap it out in favor of str8 3inch piping, but im on a budget here.Would the 2 1/4 be ok?If any how much performance would i lose?
i had 2 1/4 stock exhaust and had a 2 1/2" mandrel bent exhaust installed. i have a straight through fart can style muffler and no catalytic. my car was boosted before and after the 2 1/2" exh. there was a slight difference with the 2 1/2"exh. the turbo spools up to full boost 10psi in 2nd gear 300rpms sooner. but if you have to run the 2 1/4" exh like i did for a couple of months, then there's nothing wrong running it like that, you will feel a difference with the bigger exhaust but it will be minimal. and 2 1/2"exh is good til 500whp. i'm not making this up it's in this link, under exhaust:

if you're on a budget, leave the stock exhaust on and get an e cut out, it's only 150 bucks and it will give you the most power when you need it, and you can be sleeper at all other times
just go with 3" if you can in the future... alot of people might say its too big but im calling bullshit....
i had a true ID 3" thermal r&d exhuast on my all motor b16 with bolt ons.... stock internals....
even with a shity small intake, and a shitty greddy header i was still pulling 94-95mph traps in my eg....
top end ripped hard for a b16....
