Im really considerring not doing a boost setup for my first high hp setup. Just seems like a lot of things can go wrong, and when they do, its always huge engine failure.

Ive got a fully built D16a6, head and block done to the ****. A little over 10:1 compression and I plan to run about 16-18psi daily driven on a T3 .60/.63 and TurboEdit tuned by Xenocron himself

To me for a person who knows really not to much about all the mechanical pieces of the wastegate, actuators and things, to much oil, oil restrictors, map sensors, vacuum being all routed properly, blowing rings

And the electrical work, Turboedit, electronic boost controller, wideband, MSD 6BTM, oil/boost and such gauges.

Im looking for some opinions on seriously hor hard it would be for you guys, I know most of you have experience and such and probably started out with a low budget setup, internal wastegate and an FMU.

Im only 18 so I dont know much, nor do my friends nor are there any shops in the area related to anything performance.

Just looking for real answers, its either boost or 150 shot direct port which is fairly easy, but refilling bottles every 4 runs and not always having the pwer there and the BOV is its major downside.....

You'll learn as you go. Pay attention and do some research. Everybody had to start from scratch.

I don't see why you don't just research until you are no longer a newbie, and then pursue boost.

 

Yeah but most people probably dont start with high psi setups, or if they do they have lots of money to have someone else install/tune everything or they start with a really easy internally gated, VAFC/FMU controlled setup on stock internals....

Hard to explain, but Ill have absolutely no help at all with the setup. Motor is already built so I cant run a stock internal setup anymore.

You could still run low boost till you figure it all out, and you have here, honda-tech, and other forums ot learn.

Its either I run this 16psi or I go with a 150 shot

Turbo maybe be a bit slower than the 150 with my setup but its always there, but more can go wrong, and will prob scare little children lol

 

I'd personally run it N/A till your ready for boost....a turbo is alot more fun than a 150 shot

 

If you can hook up the nitrous kit you can hook up all those gauges and ----. Just start with no wastegate mods and you'll be at like 8 psi. By that time you will know what your doing, it just takes time.

 

Seriously man. Ever hear of a guy building the roof first on his house? No. He starts at the foundation and works his way up. I would suggest you do the same. Run at a low PSI until you know what the hell you're doing, then crank it up You don't want a blown engine, thats for sure.

 

yeah, listen to what they are saying. Everybody started out not knowing ----. You will learn also. Its not that difficult. Start small and work your way up.
