Hey guys Abaz just pointed me to this message board from Honda-tech. He said a few of you guys posted some qustions about DSM SMIC's.

Here are some pics of my 90 Civic Hatch with a 1G DSM SMIC. It fits pretty good but Im not to sure it would fit with a stock bumper. Works extreamly well though. I had to get one end pipe rewelded in the opposite direction. If you have more questions let them rip.

 

Looks real good, I bet it could work with the stock bumper.

What Year is that intercooler? I think they had 2 different side mount intercooelrs for the DSM's? 1g/2g?

Not sure what year, Just now its 1st gen Eclipse "Think its a 90-95?"

The 2G's are a little bit different, I was unable to fit the 2g and had to sell it.

what problems did you have with the 2g intercooler? just curious as i dont encounter problems when i do this in the future ... thanks

 

could you mount an intercooler on the fother side the same way you did yours on the right side too. i know i would have to take out the windsheild washer tank. is anything else there?

 

Yup, plenty of room over their too, You could do anything you want, just takes fabrication.

 

i think it would work with 90 and 91 stock bumpers only because the 88 and 89 dont have an opening under the turn signal like the 90 and 91 do.

but again.. this is HMT.. so u could just cut an opening

I just wanted to say that that's a pretty clean setup up... way to go stealth mode. I was thinking about something similar to that except I wanted to mount it on the side in front of the radiator and paint it black. So not only will it be stealth, but it also won't attract some unwanted attention, you know little theives see a bright shiny intercooler and might put dibs on who gets to take it home. But I like your setup a lot too, major props.
