random-strike is your buddy on this one man.

I would leave the stock rods in there IMO.
I have seen many blown motors on stock internals.
*blown meaning supercharged, blower...etc....

forged alumn parts for sbc are cheap.

305s are known for detonation, so you have to be careful. A decent cheap rod is GM powdered metal rods if you want something better look for something in 4340 crome moly, use any cheap forged piston you can. If your replacing the wholr bottom end you might want to consider a 350 though because there cheaper and better.

Eagle sells good, inexpensive forged rods. Use a forged piston and 9 to 1 comp. should be fine.

Man I wouldnt even touch the rods on a 305 on a basic setup, what kind of power goals are you going for?

damn i never thought i would see this on this site.So does anyone realy know anything about the chevy setup here?
Look up the specs on the 305 its the same stroke an rod combo as a 350. So tell me whats the difference? Its the bore. Stock internals can handle 400hp easily so just install a high volume oil pump an get it boosted. You will love it.
